I agree with some and disagree wit others

let's take System Restore

realy ... let's see
- system restore takes about 12% (at maximum) from your partition
if you have 50Gb partition it will eat 6Gb

- also it's known to be a "safe heaven" for viruses and malware(spyware and such); if you will delete/repair the infected file, at reboot it will be back

- and there's the issue of timing; it will start randomly, if you are in an on-line game ... you're dead

- it's suposed to protect your system in case of a disaster ... not quite
if key files are deleted of infected by a virus and the system will not boot in safe-mode, you'll have to intall it again
