Yes thats true it affects the system performance negative on a Desktop Computer.
It can causes data coruption after defragging the HD, some data could be placed
by the defragmenter on a place on the HD so windows can't handle it propperly,
on Win XP / Win 2000.
On Win 2003 u can use it without having corruption, because it's server based.
And it gain server data performance
