#1 | | Site Staff | Your Choice for Best PC Game of 2006 Personally, I’d vote for Oblivion because this is an amazing game.
EDIT by Dyre: Those of you who voted for OTHER, please tell us which game you chose. Just be sure it's a game released in 2006. That's the reason for the Poll.

#3 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | Oblivion. It's a big game with big flaws. I'm still playing it. Morrowind was more enjoyable. The few things Oblivion did better are shadowed by the things they ruined much like nwn2 vs nwn1+allexpansions. Time to move on.

I played MW off an on for over 4 years. Started over at least 6 times. (Mostly because of computer crashes that caused data loss. )
Some of the things I really missed was the ability to summon more than one creature at a time. Levitation was also greatly missed at first. However, after finding that I could climb some tall boulders that sort of made up for it. I even killed off some characters I was told I couldn't because I found a safe spot high above their ability to attack me.
One thing I do appreciate in OB over MW is the Fast Travel mode. It does help the flow of the game when the player can move more quickly to another location. I don't use it exclusively, though....only when I have a definite purpose to get to where I want to go.
How about listing your own pros and cons?

#7 | | Stuck in "April 1st" | | M/B: Asus Rampage Formula | | | RAM: G.Skill 2x2GB PI Black | | Dyre I'm interested to know if that sempron really runs oblivion smoothly at high res. What settings do you use and how much FPS do you get?
Oblivion pros:
A proper assassin's guild (Dark brotherhood)
Horse riding
Amazing graphics
Good voice acting
Playing a pure mage is viable
Massive world to explore
Oblivion cons:
Removal of enchant (My favorite skill)
No levitation - mark/recall - divine intervention
No stilt rider, ships (Much more realistic than fast travel which defeats the whole point of traveling the roads, being ambushed by bandits, the sense of reward for traveling to some extent)
No retroactive endurance (That's a big issue for spellcasters)
Monster leveling system
Insufficient cleavage

............. | I've actually been very surprised at how well this system does handle Oblivion. I was expecting to take a huge hit. I'm going to be posting some updated images later on. I just got ATT installed to check FPS.
At 1280x1024 with Ultra High Settings, HDR, and AA turned on in the ATI CCC, inside buildings, caves, and even in the cities, I'm seeing ~30 FPS.
Out in the Forests it drops to around ~12 FPS.
If I drop Resolution to 1024x768, I see a significant improvement in FPS. That's usually what I play at anyway due to that being the max limitation for TV Out so I can do movie capturing of the gameplay.
