Even AMD executives are debunking the 'merger' terminology and calling it a 'buyout'.
I'm still not that comfortable with the whole thing as I still see some conflicts of interest. However, I'm sure the AMD fans are quite happy with it. Although, I would have thought they'd be more inclined to be disappointed that it wasn't nVidia being acquired.
If the ATI 'brand' can continue uninterrupted, I'll be quite pleased....and very surprised.

The major conlict will come between nVidia and AMD
if AMD will start selling mobo's under their brand there will be some major market cut from nVidia's point of view |

#34 | | Advanced Newbie | I really couldn't care less about this merger, so long as it does not affect the overall quality of both companies in any significant way. As for some of the combined products they were thinking of creating it's not something I would go for in any case, so the overall feeling from here is indifference. |

#35 | | Newbie | I don't care about this, because I don't like AMD anyway.
But I'd like it, if nVidia and Intel would merge, because I only use Intel CPUs and MOSTLY nVidia GPUs. |

They advertised non existant stock and then made everyone wait for about 6 weeks before finally refunding money. The exchange rate had changed during that time and I was out about $20. |

Considering that the best AMD chipsets were always made by Nvidia, I would have though they would have merged with THEM, not with ATI. And just to piss them off, I will continue to use my favorite combo: Intel & Ati.

#39 | | Newbie | This could be VERY interesting. ATi and AMD were talking about integrating GPU's directly on the CPU Package... |
