Ug?

It is a start screen vs a start menu.

What makes Windows 8 really bad is also the fact that a lot of laptops are shipped with Windows 8 and Microsoft makes very hard to downgrade to Windows 7 (Only the Professional version or Enterprise allow this) but it's a pain to get a key once you call Microsoft.
I work for a large IT company now and we deal primarily with large organization with one or more servers and a lot of business users request laptops and desktops with Windows 7 Pro only.

Windows 8 is a great example of style over substance.

Seems like Microsoft decided to try one of Apple's moves this time. They made the critical mistake of not having brain dead fans for customers.

This isn't the first time Macroshit has tried to copy Apple and failed miserably... remember Zune?

But it's okay, because it's not Microsoft's fault W8 is failing, it's the OEMs' and the fact that they didn't make enough touch devices (that's a link, by the way).

Yet sadly, very sadly, W8 still whoops Ubuntu with Unity's ass. Making an OS worse than Windoze is not an easy task to accomplish, and by god Ubuntu managed it, first with that ultra retarded Unity interface, and now I hear it even sends all searches, even local ones, to Amazon so they can give you personalized ads (and shit all over your privacy). Fortunately even the unwashed masses who previously defaulted to Ubuntu as their Linux distro of choice simply because of it being the most popular one are taking notice and abandoning it in droves.

Just download Start8 from Stardock, and you dont need to use Metro UI, as Start8 is a startmenu even better than the original start menu in win7, as you can modify it even more than the original one. So those of you who cant live without a startmenu (like me) or just hate MetroUI, you can make Win8 almost as Win7 with its "upgrades", I like Win8 NOW, but I wont update until it gets a little more time to iron out those baby bugs and stability issues in general.
