I already have my coupon and definitely will update to x64 version with the official release. I'm currently using the RC build 7100 and rarely boot into Vista or XP Pro anymore. I'm ready to leave those far behind...EXCEPT...I need XP to be able to use my legal size flatbed scanner. If I could only find working drivers for it under W7, I'd be very, very happy!

Default Updating to Win7 When SecuROM Etc is Updated

Windows 7 is great, its looks nice, neat, fast and effeciant, but as a gamer I have been reverted back to Vista SP2, Windows 7 as been praised highly in reviews, but when its comes to gaming, Vista still wins for most games, 3DMark etc, even though Windows 7 will introduce DirectX 11 and advanced coding and better coding for Quad-Core - i7 processors etc, its going to take a long time before games will use DirectX 11 and advanced coding.

The drawback to Windows 7 for gaming is that some new games, Grand Theft Auto 4 (for example) will not work unless you use compatabilty mode to Win2000, this is the same with most newer games that use Starforce and Securom protection, as SecuROM & Starforce have not yet updated the coding to support Windows 7, and we all know how long it took them to update the coding for vista games.

Now a lot of people will say well if it works in compatibility whats the problem? the first problem what people forget to realise is that compatibility mode uses older system files within the system folder to be able to play the game which can decrease performance & stability.

You can see the 1000s of people on forums asking how to get a certain game to work in Windows 7, so I will update when Starforce, SecuROM, Laserlock Etc have got thier act together.

Still Windows 7 is a worthy upgrade x64 most especially, just be aware that some of your games will not work without compatibility mode and in many cases actually decrease performance in contrast to Vista SP2.

Enjoy your upgrades people, but for me Ill stick with Vista SP2 for now.

Ill upgrade to 7 eventually, ive got vista 64 ultimateo n here right now and its rock solid so I have no pressing need to upgrade.

Ill just wait till they bring out a service pack for it first, considering windows 7 is pretty much just a service pack, I dont see the need to rush and upgrade its all just hype

Will definitely upgrade. Vista is running alright on my machine now. Did the same when Mac OS X Snow Leopard came out, and it was a good upgrade. Only difference is it's going to cost me a tad more than 35$

I have try it before but so many software and games weren't support yet. So, I use vista again.
