I've upgraded to i7 from Q6600 and I don't feel much of a difference.

I saw the difference passing from a Athlon X2 6000+ to a Phenom 2 940 . This was the last upgrade for a long time... Next one will be when the university will be done or if the computer break ...(Still have 5 Years of studies ahead hahahaa!) So i will save my cash for university ... When 1 semester cost 1800$ it's about the same price of a new damn computer!

I've been curious/interested in just how much of a difference can be determined with the newer processors and motherboards coming out.

I finally got my tax refund and plan to at least replace my 3 1/2 year old E6700 with a new Q9550.

I really can't afford a whole rebuild at this time but, with my RAM being fairly new, and the motherboard only 3 months old, as well is my new HD 4770, the E6700 is the old dude in the system right now.

I think most benefits come from faster RAM, but nothing past that. Most games will still run great on dual cores starting from 3.5GHz.

Well I don't need a better CPU right now so I won't update. This one has still plenty of unused power .
