Windows 7 RC x64 and Arch-Linux x86-64.
Desktop, Windows. Notebook, Linux.

I went with 7 RC because the license was good til 1 March 2010 and it had come up time for me to do a clean format and install. Previously I had used and enjoyed Windows Vista Ultimate x64. No problems here, even ran a test of uptime with a straight 30 days with no degradation in performance. It has gotten a lot of bad rap, but quite a bit of it stems from probably the OEM bloated versions that came with computers, whereas I did a fresh install sans Manufacturer junk. Saw the 7 RC came out, the beta of 7 was after all... bleh, but so far the RC is what my experience with Vista has been but with a few new features to make it worthwhile, such as the superbar.

For my notebook I made the leap to Arch-Linux because I have been a user and abuser for Linux for quite some time. Not a fan of the 6 month release cycle of half-working or 98% working distros, wanted a rolling release like I enjoyed with Foresight despite its little quirks but didn't want to go with a compile everything distro, which I have done before with Gentoo. So I tried Arch-Linux and for half a year it has been great, of course like any Linux distro except for something like Debian, there is the odd broken package that takes a day or two to get fixed, but it is quite easy and fast to revert to an old working one.

Hoped that anwsers the why.

I use Vista HP x64 and now that I have my new memory it loads a lot faster so I'm quite happy with it. I've to try Win 7 to see how it works because I didn't try it yet.

I have XP Pro 32-bit, Vista HP 32-bit, and W7 RC 64-bit. But, I'm using W7 almost exclusively these days. I boot into the others only to keep them updated and, very occasionally, to compare performance between them.

W7 is very stable and quite a pleasant surprise for a preview OS. I'll gladly purchase the full version release when it comes out.
