Looks like I'll really have to check W7 out. Is it hard to get a key for it? It is probably a stupid question. Will it make any difference if I'd start on W7 programs that are already installed on my Vista HDD in performance I mean? It won't, will it?

Since few months usually windows 7 x64, but to do test of creative x-fi mx extreme gamer sound card (0730) i installed windows xp x64 becouse it has hardware audio acceleration, vista/7 doesn't have it and sound at them sucks! From time to time i test new versions of ubuntu x64.

Now i can't becouse i had this x-fi for few days only :-) And OpenAL works only with short list of applications so my integrated audio sucks at vista/7 and is not so bad on xp and all pre-vista windows'.

I'm using Vista 32 bit, because XP drivers for a previous motherboard did not support SATA ROM drives. After that Vista was installed on my secondary system so we could get a software package for an HP color laserjet All-In-One to work. And my sister's laptop had Vista. Thus it became apparent that for our network to work consistently, I needed to stick with Vista.

Now I heard that Windows 7 was supposed to be superior to Vista in a number of ways. But I don't have time for clean installs lately, and my attempt to "upgrade" my system to the Windows 7 RC failed. So it seems I'm stuck with Vista, at least until the end of the year. Still I'm not convinced that Windows 7 will be some "huge leap" forward... All I know is that it no longer makes sense to revert to Windows XP.

I now use my desktop PC almost exclusively for gaming, running Windows Vista x64 Business, I'll make the switch to Windows 7 when it goes RTM and not before.

For pretty much everything else besides gaming, I now use Mac OS X.

Vista 64 here. Seems to be ok now after I installed the SP2 but I would like it to be alittle more faster. Windows 7 is good but in the version I tried they had taken out the classic startup which I dint like.
