My computer is connected directly through DMZ bypassing my Routers Hardware firewall but I have a Hardware Firewall I use on my KillerNic instead for better network performance. Works like a charm. I wouldn't recommend anyone connect directly using DMZ either even with a software firewall installed, it's just to risky.

One of the guys I work with claims to have been running Windows Vista without any kind of firewall or anti-virus since he's installed it. I believe that's absolutely impossible. He is one of those who defends Microsoft everytime he's got a chance. Makes me laugh!

If he is one that defends Microsoft so much, then surely he has windows built in firewall active, which will do the basic job of a firewall.

I do use avg but tbh never scan.....I use a virtual pc to browse the web....at the end of the session just use the "turn off and delete changes" option and you're back to a clean instal....instantly removes all tracking cookies spyware and viruses.
I got a blaster worm a couple of weeks ago...only thing thats has happened in ages and no idea how I got it....just turned off the virtual pc and it was gone....nothing seems to lodge in the physical pc it just passes through to the virtual pc and is then easily removed.
