#4 | | Professional Member | | CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 | | xp 32 sp2 and dx9 do everything i need them to do...
xp 64 is an empty promise...
i also don't need the drm and higher hardware requirements of vister and dx 10 is a bust as well, as far as i can tell...
the only thing i know about linux and other is they can't run any of the programs i need to run...
also none of these other operating systems has drivers for my old but professional level audio interface, which i like well enough to not sacrifice it for the sake of a new os that i don't need anyway... |

#5 | | Advanced Member | | M/B: Gigabyte MA790FX-DS5 | | XP 64. I bought it well, because I wanted to try it out. It was a headache back in 2005 with no antivirus and firewall softwares out there aside from Microsoft's offering. Very few drivers at the time as well.
But now it is okay, almost everything works, save a few StarForce protected games (thank god). Comodo 64 bit firewall and Avast! Antivirus softwares are damn good. I use Ubuntu though for everyday usage on my P4 computer. |

Anyway, I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit mostly. I also have this rig setup to boot into XP Pro 32-bit if I want to. Each OS is on a separate HDD.
I also have another rig that has my 'unsupported by Vista' hardware connected to it. That rig has XP Pro 32-bit installed. The only real hardware I needed connected is my UMAX flatbed USB scanner. It's a legal size scanner and I don't want to buy another one since this one works just fine....under XP.

#10 | | Advanced Newbie | | CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q9550 | | I use XP 32 Bit (for playing Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic 1 + 2), but anything else I do with Vista 32 Bit.
I voted for Vista 32 Bit...but an Option for both OS would have been nice. |
