#2 | | Golden Member | windows xp 32, mainly because its what i got when i originaly put this thing together and I have never had the need to change it, always wanted to put 64 on here but at the time it was WAY too expensive, and at this stage i just dont see the need, hoping to build a new rig at some point this year and im gonna rough it out on xp untill windows 7 is ready (and pray its better) |

xp 64 is an empty promise...
i also don't need the drm and higher hardware requirements of vister and dx 10 is a bust as well, as far as i can tell...
the only thing i know about linux and other is they can't run any of the programs i need to run...
also none of these other operating systems has drivers for my old but professional level audio interface, which i like well enough to not sacrifice it for the sake of a new os that i don't need anyway... |

But now it is okay, almost everything works, save a few StarForce protected games (thank god). Comodo 64 bit firewall and Avast! Antivirus softwares are damn good. I use Ubuntu though for everyday usage on my P4 computer. |

Anyway, I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit mostly. I also have this rig setup to boot into XP Pro 32-bit if I want to. Each OS is on a separate HDD.
I also have another rig that has my 'unsupported by Vista' hardware connected to it. That rig has XP Pro 32-bit installed. The only real hardware I needed connected is my UMAX flatbed USB scanner. It's a legal size scanner and I don't want to buy another one since this one works just fine....under XP.

#10 | | Advanced Newbie | | CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 | | | RAM: 2 GB Kingston DDR2 800 | | I use XP 32 Bit (for playing Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic 1 + 2), but anything else I do with Vista 32 Bit.
I voted for Vista 32 Bit...but an Option for both OS would have been nice. |
