Anyone who's happy with vista deserves to be using it.

Actually I used Linux for 1 full year as my only desktop (SUSE 9 or so) and while it was very functional you just can't get very many games for GNU/Linux/Unix (Oops SCO owns that last one ) Now that she's been patched up a bit and the drivers have stabilized there is absolutely nothing wrong with Vista - n00bs who don't know how to configure or run a system blame the OS. My machine is primarily a gaming rig so Windows is the only real choice for it and everything just works(tm). But yeah early adopters suffered greatly with Vista I'm happy I wasn't one of them.

Whoops SCO doesn't own anything anymore. They don't even own their own asses (Those belong to satan).

I still use windows 2000 Professional.
Also XP is familiar but in my opinion difference between 2000 and XP is really small in practise. All missing programs which intervene from W2K can download from internet. W2K is light, fast and stable. Must consider update operating system too when I change mother board and processor next time. Possibly then when W2K support from Windows totally finishes.

Linux, I'm not playing games as I used to do, and the debugging tools + kernel headers with very easy access.
p.s. Windows Server 2008 looks a pefect OS for a gaming system (minimal installation + long trial [each 90 days you can extend your trial by using the rearm stuff], and its good for those who like to format to keep the installation clean for new drivers / programs), I'll try it some day.

Same thing but with a certain open-source OS that I won't name...

Vista 64, because now I can finally run all my apps & games under it without a hitch (crosses fingers). There's finally an Aquamark3 patch that makes it work, though the results are not comparable to XP. And I got DVD Rebuilder to work as well. The latter was a must.

I run XP x64/Vista x64 on my desktop, and Vista Ultimate (32bit) on my laptop. I still am partial to XP, but since I use my laptop more than my desktop because of work, it's given me a chance to learn some of Vista's quirks and figure out how to make things work.
