#21 | | Master of Disaster | well the thing is that unlike music, by buying games your not just feeding the music lable the developers actually do get some of it and its not cheap to make these things so by people not buying they have to charge a little more but what they do charge is overkill
As per the disk protect, all it does is raise the prices of the games and annoys legit users, its such a waste |

#23 | | Site Staff | Piracy was created due to poor business behavior from the publisher’s side.
Look at Assassin’s Creed for example; it got leaked like a month before the official launch. Ubisoft could minimize the damage (Damage control) by releasing it earlier than expected, but instead they kept the original release date, and they are going to lose a lot of money for that.
People would prefer to pirate the game for free, rather than waiting 30 days. I'd send Ubisoft’s directors to business school. If publishers were smart, they could drop piracy by more than 60%.
My guess is for their failure is corruption; the rich father is always promoting his talentless son to a manager position, instead of promoting the hard working wise guy. Therefore, corrupted idiots are running the companies, so don’t expect them to be smart. If so many people here are pirating stuff, then these companies must suck. As they say, the customer is always right.
I can clearly say that in the last 6 months, I had like 6-10 bogus DRM issues (legit copies of course). The latest title is Frontlines: Fual of War (legit copy of course), and I can't even launch it to due Securom bugs. Excuse me, but if this is the treament legit honest consumers get, then I wish everyone will pirate their games.

#24 | | Master of Disaster | i agree the corruption and insider highering has a huge role to play with the stupifing of companies at large, disk protection is absolutly pointless and i think is only used to satisfy the ilogical concerns of the publishers but the fact remains that there never had nor ever will be a disk protection that will not be cracked by some 15 year old kid 10 minutes after its release, and they pay a fair sum of cash for these disk protections which in turn jacks up the game prices, its mind nubingly stupid.
As per why pricacy started, i dont think there is any single reason, no one person started it and everyone that did begin the old piracy rings and sits of yesterday did it for their own reasons, some because they simply wanted stuff for free, some because they actually believe in freedom of speech and information and others to make money off of advertisements, why does it continue? for two reasons i think, one is indeed because people are tired of the rediculous prices, the shady business dealings and the poor drm, but as this poll has proven it still exists also because there are some that still just want it for free.
One thing i love though, no cd/dvd cracks i get em as soon as i get any game i have having to instert the cd and more over i have the crappy and sometimes harmful disk protection.
I guess usually im patient enough to wait a month or two beforge getting a new game to give enough time for some patches to come out although i do agree it should not be this way, it seems beta testing has been largly passed down to the consumer, we should get paid for this! |
