The crazy part, with buying a new RD600 card, is that I'm now working 60-72 hour work weeks and I don't have much time for anything but eating, sleeping, and work. Still I've applied for Age of Conan beta and I want to upgrade to DX10. So I guess I'll soon be buying a new video card and powersupply... (I should probably seek professional help! ) |

I've been an ATI (now AMD) video card user for something like 13 years now. I've learned to trust the company and the products. It's hard to find any reason to switch.

i dont think that ati card will have that high power demand like nvidia
p.s.i have intel that need toooooo much power and toooo much of equipment in it and i only use ~500W (+/- 20W)

That card required a powersupply with 30A on the 12V rail, and the powersupply I had installed only had 28A. The video card refused to run.
Now I had to buy 2 powersupplies that time, so I ended up not getting more expensive units with a higher Wattage rating. And I'm not completely certain that AMD/ATI is even going survive. Let alone release competative products and stable drivers. So I will probably upgrade the power supply on my computers individually, this time, just based on principle alone. (I also regularly build systems for people - so I can allways find people willing to buy slightly "used" parts.)
Technically, I don't really need to upgrade my second system, as I don't intend to even try running Vista on it. I'm also in the process of buying parts for a whole new system, intended to run Vista. So I will also need a new P/S for that build. I'm just buying a new DX10 compliant video card before I buy other parts (also thinking of waiting for Penryn...). Only makes sense for me to try it in a current system after I make the purchase. Because it will be months before I complete the whole thing. |

but it looks nice
maybe will install it after SP1 and when i buy whole new parts

I originally intended to wait until after the first service pack. But since I'll buy the parts progressively, and I have a complimentary copy of Vista Ultimate, I recently tried installing the 64-bit version.
To my suprise it seems to work perfectly. It even had drivers for my ACHI HDD controllers. I still have an issue with one of my Viewsonic displays... but there is some chance that may have been fixed. Bottom line is I've installed it just for the short term. It gives me a chance to figure out how to work with it. |
