I’m using 5.1 speaker set for more then an year, and very happy with it. In the past I used headphones for gaming and some cheap 2.1 speaker set.

Using the Auzentech X-Plosion with 7.1 surround here. At the moment I just have a set of Kenwood studio monitors run off a 2 x 100 amp for the fronts and these Dell desktop speakers mounted on the ceiling behind me for rears. Want to add a sub and some other stuff ... maybe later this year.

I also use headphones for music and gaming

Headphones (Sony MDR-V600), and, occasionally, 2.1 speakers (some Altec Lansing ones I got several years back).

Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Gamer with Altec Lansing ADA890 4.1 Speakers (incl. remote) attached.

Also use a set of LTB Audio Systems 5.1 Magnum USB Headphones which use their own 5.1 audio engine when I want to be quiet (usually in the mornings when I don't want to wake the baby or my wife )!

Personnaly, I use a basic Logitech X-530 5.1 surround system that sound quite good actually, especially for the price paid (around 75$ Can). When my mom can't hear the TV anymore(), use Zalman Theatre 5 surround headphones. My sound chip is the integrated ADI SoundMax (AD1988, think) that is on my ASUS P5B motherboard.

Same here , HDA X-Mistique 7.1 with Logitech X-530 5.1. Actualy this set give me great bass , the HDA card it self generates great deep sound ( bass enhancement ) , plus the 530` woofer also have deep bass. For music i also activate my card DSP 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter. When my girl cant stand it anymore i put on some Philips headphones.

So here yo have.
