Hello guys. i would be happy if you guys can share knowledge about overclocking ATI 4850.

And post some home made custom BIOS here for other to enjoy

i am posting a 4850 recovery disc here. which should help u recover from a bad bios flash on 4850.

Burn the iso and start booting using the disc. it will automatically flash a good set of bios..

Dude, you are awesome! Thx very much :-)

Hm... maybe do you have something like this for asus radeon x300se 128MB 64 bit pci-e? Once i tried to flash it to x550 and it failed and now card is useless, maybe is a chance to repair it. I tried to reflash it and it failed too, maybe i was making something wrong way.

If 4850 in this regard is anything like 4870, then I don't think it's worth overclocking. Every site I looked that did some benchmarks managed to squeeze less the 5% out of the card. It usually came down to one or two FPS on higher resolutions.

Thats great for those with experience like yourself but flashing gone wrong is a quick way to destroy a perfectly good working product

If you want I can do all custom-modded bioses for you (just PM me and I'll send you the instructions on how to xtract your card's bios, then send it to me) and I'll mod it in any way you want underclocked my 4870 in 2d that way, and overclocked it in 3d.
It's very easy using Gpu-z & RBE
And for flash recovery you can use actually any self-booting disc (like an 1.44" or usb or cdrom).
I don't like to use 3-rd parties or companies bioses cause some of them are non-reference designs (you'll never know). And you can f**k your card up.

the safest way is to edit the current bios of the card you are trying to flash/mod and for recovery u can use a pci vga card ( not pci-e) or just do a blind flash because it's really not that hard and will always work

PS: gotta love those custom fan settings

Dont have to worry guys.. before you start flashing., go to the bios and select primary boot device to dvd and then u can go to desktop to flash anything using winflash 2.12 or 2.15. even if it f***k up the bios, use my iso burned dvd to boot. and u will see the system restarting in 2 or 3 min and u will have the display back no more vga card i have done it more than 100 times and about the bios flashing of diff manufacturers, jsut make sure that the prime number matches

like -103 or -110

i edit my bios but 4850 wont go past 1.58 volt, anyone tried using hex on 4850 bios ?

i had a bios, but i lost it. i was doing some testing and found a cub3d bios which was allowing to clock my 4850 @ 740/1135 bad that i lost that bios. i flashed back with a different fan setting and had to use my recovery disc and i couldn't find that bios anyone got a good bios. just upload and i will give it a try

The one that i have in the recovery disc allows 728/1115 stable with riva tuner

and on the post u can see the benchmark i ran with different bios all on my palit no crash. crash only happens when i change the signature or a volt set too low. coz i was able to run 145/200 with 0.856 volt, but that bios was not allowing more that 700/1160.
