#1 | | Golden Member | | CPU: AMD PhenomII 955 @ 3.7 | | ATi struggle in Crysis? Very simple... when u select 8xAA in crysis.
For ati it loads 8xMSAA
and on nvdia it loads 4xMSAA & 8xCSAA.. its Nvdia trick... they spend a lot of money to make game developers support NV
You will find a file called FSAAProfilesDX10.txt and FSAAProfile.txt in config folder.
Delete both files and then you will notice, both cards will use MSAA
After deleting that file, you will not see 8xq 16x or 16xq
Even for Nvidia will only get 2x, 4x, 8x, which is real 8x MSAA.
now compair with ATI.
when that file is there. when you select 8x it lodes 8x msaa for ATI and lodes 4x msaa for Nvidia....
not only crysis... even in CMR grid you have simular file.... |

#3 | | Professional Member | | RAM: 4GB G.Skill DDR3 1333 | | No doubt crysis is optimized for Nvidia cards, my sapphire 2x3870s cards in crossfire struggle in windows x64 to give me 28fps at 1680x1050 with everything high and of course antialiasing off. I got 22fps with the same config at 1680x1050 with very high settings in window vista x64.
My friend with XFX 8800GT can easily get 28fps in vista with everything at very high at 1680x1050, wtf ??? and he has a core 2 duo e6700, 2GB ram, but his 8800Gt is a factory overclocked card from XFX but anyways what the hell my system is superior to his in every way???? |

hi m8... nice to see you..
Its inside.. Crysis\Game\Config
There are two files
For DX9 the file is FSAAProfiles.txt
And for DX10 the file is FSAAProfilesDX10.txt The original file is says this Version (1.00) DeviceGroupID 'NVIDIA' { VendorID = 4318 // NVidia Devices { MinID = 0x0000 MaxID = 0xFFFF } } FSAAProfile 'CSAA' { DeviceGroup = NVIDIA Mode { Samples = 4 Quality = 8 Desc '8x' } Mode { Samples = 8 Quality = 8 Desc '8xQ' } Mode { Samples = 4 Quality = 16 Desc '16x' } Mode { Samples = 8 Quality = 16 Desc '16xQ' } } My edited version for ATI is Version (1.00) DeviceGroupID 'ATI' { VendorID = 4098 // ATI Devices { MinID = 0x0000 MaxID = 0xFFFF } } FSAAProfile 'CFAA' { DeviceGroup = ATI Mode { Samples = 4 Quality = 0 Desc '4xMSAA' } Mode { Samples = 8 Quality = 0 Desc '8xMSAA' } } FSAAProfile 'CSAA' { DeviceGroup = NVIDIA Mode Mode { Samples = 4 Quality = 0 Desc '4xMSAA' } Mode { Samples = 8 Quality = 0 Desc '8xMSAA' } }
To check the settings, after applying AA, click on ~ key for opening the conaole and it will say FSAA = 1 FSAA_sample = 8 FSAA_quality = 0 And if sample is 4, then 4x AA and if the sample says 8, its 8xAA-- which is pure MSAA. now ready everything is ready.......
My edited version will make Nvidia use the original MSAA like ATI card AND TO ADD GPU IN THE GPU LIST
Edit the file amd.txt which is inside Crysis\Game\Config\gpu
Add the following line if you are using New ATI cards 0x1002, 0x9441, 4 // ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 0x1002, 0x9440, 4 // AMD Radeon HD 4870 0x1002, 0x9442, 4 // AMD Radeon HD 4850 0x1002, 0x9508, 3 // AMD Radeon HD 3870 0x1002, 0x9504, 3 // AMD Radeon HD 3850 0x1002, 0x950F, 4 // AMD Radeon HD 3870 x2 After you add these lines... when u click on optimize the game.. you will get very high as default setting for all x2's and 4800 series........
Have fun...

It is.. and the Physx also plays a major role in other games... hmm.
the correction tweak will not give extra FPS for ATI, but will make Nvidia card show its real power
It give the actual FPS for Nvidia cards... and u will see 8800GT struggling in 8x AA. because when you select 8x AA without the correction tweak in Nvidia card. it uses 4 Samples which is 4x AA and 8x CSAA which is actually a trick... its not real AA

#8 | | Golden Member | | CPU: AMD PhenomII 955 @ 3.7 | | Lot of games in the market dose the same thing.. one other game is GRID. there are two files called hardware_settings_config.xml & Hardware-Settings-Options.xml and there you have same trick... and other files too
And when we do benchmarking. we should check using the MSAA to check the performance of the card. not CSAA or CFAA
CSAA nvidia
CFAA ATI
I tried this on my friends Nvidia and the first test was
Very High
8x AA which was using 4x sample and 8x quality
1280x720 and got 32 FPS
the same setting after using my file gave only 17FPS... he was shocked and started saying no i cannot accept this.. my card has a new technology and that is CSAA.. hehe
WHEN ONE CARD IS USING MSAA THE OTHER SHOULD USE THE SAME RIGHT
we cannot do racing with one car being a petrol and the other running in diesel

I didnt mean physx in crysis.. but in other games.. Ya i made a mistake and corrected it
I typed "It is.. and the Physx also plays a major role... hmm."
I added "It is.. and the Physx also plays a major role in other games... hmm." and now its right... |
