Grand Theft Auto IV Screenshots
Posted by Regeneration on December 4th, 2008, 01:04 PM

Grand Theft Auto IV is a brand new adventure in the GTA universe following the experiences of Nikolai "Niko" Bellic, a new immigrant from an undisclosed eastern European country whose troubled pa st and the persuasion of his cousin Roman have brought him to the fictional Liberty City. Unfortunately, Niko’s search for the American Dream and a much needed fresh start, hits an immediate snag when the rags to riches story Roman spun to pique Niko's interest is exposed as not only a complete fabrication, but a ploy to enlist Niko’s well-known skills as a tough guy against the ample list of enemies clamoring for Roman’s debt-ridden blood.

close steam and restart it, sometimes you just connect to a crowded server (just imagine 5.000 ppl downloading GTA IV at the same time ~14gb? (as its 2 dvds afaik))

yeah well that didn;t work i just took the pc over a friends place and got like 1.5mb/s now playing it's pretty damn cool it really owns the console version but it could use a little performance improvement. also it only shows 512 mb of v ram instead of 1 gb( known issue )

GTA... Graphix like always... sux!

i think its very hard to keep graphics high, when you have superhuge levels...

Do you think you could show a picture or two of the damage in that game, for the cars i mean.

nice, so is the game any different for the pc?

more cars, better graphics, anything worth mentioning?

basically the same with better graphics + that great mouse aiming (and i think not sure... some extra clothes) i find it very entertaining but still needs that patch that should get released these days and the 8.12 drivers from ati to get the full experience

most likely 8.12 will not contain GTA4 fixes

A new ATi driver will be released on December 10th and should significantly improve performance for gamers with those cards. Also, another note from Rockstar Games states what we should expect from the coming patch:Patch Is On The Way
We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows – Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval. The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

  • A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
  • Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
  • Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
  • Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
  • Overall savings to memory
  • Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
  • Multiplayer character settings are preserved
  • Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.
