PSU: Fotron 400 W (12v/20A)
Default Noob question from a pro :P

Hi there (once again),

Maybey a noob like question (caus i never ever took the time to focus on processors).

I have a pretty good rig, but however my processor sucks, intel pentium 2,8ghz (2 years old)


Can i just replace the old one with a new one? let's say: 3,6ghz? or do i need a whole new mobo then?

Programs like SISandra will tell you what your mobo is capable of supporting ... give that a try Bro

whats mbo you use????

my mbo sux but i can put 4Ghz+ procesor on it!
look on mbos manual how strong can it get
p.s. for stronger and new cpus you need to put a new bios

yes but in most of cases sandra cant tell what mbo you use
exp.SiSoftSandra cant see all asrock mbo

What motherboard you have ?!
you can buy new CPU in the same socket you have, and you can do some OC (Like Mine)

My mobo is:

Fujitsu siemens D1875

it says at fsb speeds:

fsb speed: 4x 201mhz (804mhz data rate)
max fsb speed : 4x 200mhz/ 2x 200mhz


need somethin else?

Socket 478 like mine
But why you think that you processor suck ?!
You have Celeron ?!

Find in the bios some advenced option like Overclock.
If you dont have, Buy another processor.

nope i cant overclock.. and i have pentium.. just 2,8ghz.. i wanna buy maybey 3,6ghz.. if i can find it.

(no jumpers and no fsb)

well.. i thought about it and im gonna upgrade to pci.. i have afew questions about this but i already posted a question in the nvidia section.. so if you could take a look there.. and maybey give some advice about the setup and vga card question..
