Default P4 + HT = 800mhz fsb....... or so this guy says.

im talking to this guy on ngemu and he is adamant that the Prescott requires HT to be enabled to run at 800mhz and dual channel.

im calling ths bullshit becoz HT is just a method of creating a virtual core,

as is written on the Intel site.

now could you all pls. confirm that i am right, as im not in the mood for someone who owns an abit board (coz they truly do suck) to tell me that im wrong, when i've been working with alot of shitty P4 systems lately and i have been turning HT left right and center, and all the systems still have thier dual channel / 800mhz settigns working.

Talking

he is an idiot, sorry for the language
I hate ppl who talk about things that they have no clue about and still think they do ...
if the HT is turnet off via BIOS you still have 800FSB and dual-channel
it's simply to verify it with CPU-Z

your language is fine dude.

thats what im trying to tell him but he still says thats what happened to him.

is it possible that he didn't set his fsb multi to quad pump?

coz wouldn't having HT enabled only need dual pump?

as in 2 logical cores = 200x2x2 so dual pumping would give 800mhz.

where as setting multi to 4 when only 1 core is present would be 200x4 = 800mhz?

the multiplier is locked on most Pentium4 and PentiumD CPU's except EE ones
he might have a problem with his mobo or the BIOS is outdated and doesn't detect his CPU correctly
either way, the HT has nothing to do with that

You are right, HT has nothing to do with the bus speed at all.

On the other hand, Abit boards only suck if you built an Intel based system. I've used nothing but Abit on my AMD systems for the longest time because they are rock solid and overclock very well.

my experience was otherwise.. abit systems over or undervoltaged my processor causing sever instabilities

rolls eyes.. w/e the guys a pussy, i invited him to come here and discuss it on a real tech site and he declined quite rudely... i hope his pentium melts.

he didn't have the balls to get pwend on a tech forum instead thinking he can get away with it on a emulator forum.

since he won't come here.

how bout you guys join ngemu and tell him directly.

i hate pansies who will flap thier face off but won't come to a real tech site and back up thier words.

what a pansy as little whiny coz man.

heres the thread guys
http://forums.ngemu.com/pcsx2-offici...-switch-2.html

seeing as this bitch is in a moderator position ths might influence the minds of noobs.. coz.. he thinks he is right.. and that will make noobs think he is right...

when he is wrong... so join up and tell the moron so.... fucking tell me what i've been practicing the last 10 yrs.

just becoz you build your own machines doesn't make you a tech god. that takes yrs and yrs of study. which i have done.. which is how i can pull the information about how HT works right out of my head without looking up information... which TOTALLY CONTRADICTS THIS DICK!

even when i produce pure evidence he can't admit he is wrong.

what a fucking arrogant pigheaded noob.

the fact he got an intel... especially with an abit board proves he knows absolutely nothing.

every body knows that Asus makes the top boards, being one of NV's oldest partners... abit is just a little puppy who tends to have burnt capacitors...

I guess I must be one of those "noobs" too, because I use and love Abit boards. My last system (which is now my server that runs 24/7) has an Abit board and a p4 3.0 ghz prescott cpu, and it has run flawlessly for almost a year. I tried an Asus on my new system, and guess what, it blew out after one month. I still have to send that board in to find out what happened (250.00 board), and I now am back to Abit. Ultimately, your going to get bad mb's from time to time, it's just a fact. However, I did some research on motherboards, and kept getting Abit as being among the best. I won't knock Asus though, because I know them to be a top manufacturer.

he got confused with AMD HyperTransport i think.

that 800MHZ is coming from a quad pumped 200MHZ busclock,
but if i'm not mistaking all HT Pentiums got a 800MHZ bus.

but give that dude a slap behind his head and tell him to wake up
