Would you buy an 7 yr old car design as a new car? i think not
With some jobs like audio/video encoding they are 60% to 80% faster at it, of course you need to know which software to use. |

(dont wonth to buy something that can burn my mbo like amd tunderbird hehehehehe) | The temps are the lowest I have ever had. I'm getting 25 deg idle now. It's about 22 deg in the room, so I do mean low temps. Under load I can get it to 36 deg.
I can't believe my cpu hasn't seen 100 deg fahrenheit. |

it seems that conroe is preaty good but allso price is rather high
p.s.my old 945 is working at 23°C idle and that is preaty good for Presler dual core |

im getting the Core™2 Extreme 6800 i have the Asus P5w DH deluxe
see how it runs with 2 7800gtx /512 video cards in sli. | Umm, that Asus P5W DH Deluxe has two slots but it's a Crossfire board, and won't work with SLi.
On the question of Conroe - what can I say! I've made the switch (mind you I still have a second system that is still AMD 939-pin, and might reassemble the previous AMD, once I get new case, drives, and etc...). And since I wanted to use the copy of Vista Ultimate that Microsoft was so generous as to give me, I chose a Quad Core and 4GB of memory.
