the cpu's aren't even out yet. you can't determine thatfor certain, also these are nothing more then a generation change allowing for higher FSB in the long run increasing Cpu frequencies

the cpu's to be released are all just replacements for the 939 cpus of the same model.

AM2 has some things to show yet.

Correction there: the cpu's aren't even OFFICIALLY out yet...

If that is true that they are just replacements, well then you can swap out your socket-939 CPU out of your motherboard & replace them with the socket-AM2 CPU and see what happens & the need of motherboard manufacturers making socket-AM2 motherboards would be then very foolish...

Obviously squall you didn't read the articles i referred to...

But indeed in 2 months time OFFICIALLY everything is on the market & then you can prove the testers of the written articles that they were totally wrong by buying & testing the stuff yourself...

the Currently known processors that are coming out are AM2 versions of the current 939 processors.

the future roadmap includes processors with higher clockspeeds.

The 5200, 5400, 5600 and 5800 are still yet to be announced and those thanks to the now FSB of 333 will be able to clock higher still

AM2 is 940 pins hence am2 processors won't fit in 939 boards.

they are also not compatible with the current 940 boards.

Well then i can only say to the OTHER readers...
Don't make hasty disisions & see how it develops before plunging into the AM2 hype which will be started in about 2 months time...

Hence AM2-cpu's aren't just replacements...

Well they tried that 2 times allready & the generation of AM2-motherboards & CPU's at THIS moment do perform only 1-5% better (with DDR2) than the socket939 motherboard & CPU's using DDR...

To MY opion a waste of investment at THIS time...

And by the time AM2 IS optimized AM3 is coming around the corner...
So that is why i advice stick to your current PC config as long as possible...

Default mMmmmm

very pointless arguments, i mean if you think about it, new processors will always come out, you wait now, get the am3 when it comes out than the next thing you know, 3 months later something else is out, i upgrade whenever i feel like it and dont feel pressured by the upcoming markets because newer technology comes out so soon. As for now im happy with my x2 no matter what people say, when the newer cpus come out and i have extra money , ill update again
