Default I'm suprised by the lack of Conroe speculation here

I really didn't think we were such a bastion of AMD support here.

Personally I find the news about Conroe to be exciting. Seems to me AMD could use some competition lately. Might help their prices when AM2 arrives. Then again, If Intel prices Conroe competatively I might upgrade that way. I see it as a situation where I can't loose!

The performance of the new Intel CPUs is surprinsing
but ... they will not be available to the market for six monts
Yes, AMD will have a lot to recover, i don't know if the new AM2 platform will match Intel's future CPUs

Well, Intel has stepped itup thats for sure. AMD will have to change the architecture of their cpu. really dont think the AM2 will catch up to it.

Just my 2 cents

The "Conroe" performance is just a rumor at this stage. Everyone is talking about it but they forgot where they took the benchmarks... that's right @ Intel place when Intel arranged it all. Wait with the excitement until someone real get that CPU and test it in his own testbed. And even if it's that good, we will not be able to afford it due Intel "rip off" prices.

That CPU is supposed to sell in the $300 range!! Even though it was arranged by Intel those numbers will still be impressive even if their 50% of what intel showed us. They will still have a lead on AMD.

AM2 = S939 with DDR2. Dont expect any gain in performance.

Well I have no problem with waiting to find out the real facts. After all I have no real reason to upgrade until after Vista is released. And I feel like AMD have been kickin back, takin it easy, and not really working because Intel's P4 design was really not that good.

IMHO what's really best for people like me is when Intel and AMD are pretty much running "neck and neck". Where the differences in performance are slim. This makes them compete on price as well as features and performance. I guess in the end, I really don't care if these "tests" are rigged or not. I might still buy a PCIe motherboard and video card (if my stupid tax return ever gets here...). But I'm not upgrading more than that till about this time next year (at least that's my story and I'm stickin to it! )

Well here on NGO we don't pick or choose or become biased. Most forums bash NVidia and praise ATI. ATI man here but nice to see others experiences and input.

AMD makes nice stuff "More bang for your buck" Intel I find pricey here ... running a Celeron here and working great

I think here on NGOHQ we see many unbiased opinions unlike another Forum I know of
