Good for you, but you seem to have missed my point which is that without competition Intel would not be innovating as quickly as they do (that is why I hope AMD continues to make fantastic products like they have been over the last few years - to keep the pressure on Intel and the industry moving forward).

I was not making a comment as such on the Pentium III or anybody use uses a Pentium III. I was just using it to exemplify what could happen if AMD wasn't around to keep the pressure on Intel; research and development would slow down to ensure maximum profits were made on proven technologies rather than on newer more expensive methods.

Remember a few years ago when Intel were racing neck and neck with AMD to see who was going to be the first company to crack the 1GHz barrier? Do you think Intel would have been working so hard if it weren't for AMD? Or do you think they would have just kept on producing new chips with 33/66 MHz speed increases from the previous generation because we didn't know any better and that is what we were used to seeing???

Intel is still having issues with heat and passing the 4ghz barrier aren't they? That is their biggest obstacle right now. I don't know if moving from the 90nm to the 4?nm process is going to help them any though!

You're right Regeneration, Intel had better do something soon! They have to lower their prices and put some good time & money into R&D. As it stands, Intel is running slower than AMD, but is producing 2x more heat and using up more power. That's a huge problem! I'm curious as to how they are going to turn the tables?

Oh, I really did get your point. I was just joking. (I really do have a 1 GHz Pentium III though. 1.13 GHz to be exact.)

intel will still do good no matter what since they are a well branded company...no matter how inferior their product gets to AMD the general market will still buy it for their brand.
