AMD Socket A slides into oblivion

SOURCES SAID Socket A processors are become rare birds - and that means people are dumping motherboards to get rid of their stock. Apart from, of course, those lucky people who have their mitts on the CPUs and can play the brokerage game to their hearts content.

And just in case you think that AMD Socket A will go on forever, this slide sent to us by an anonymous donor shows that indeed, it's gone forever.

Farewell Socket A, you've been good us. Especially in my brothers machine.

Those Barton chips were real workhorses. They will be missed!

And, of course, thank you for the 64's !

Really? I love the new 64's!

My 3200+ Venice is running better than my Barton ever could have, especially when I run it in WindowsXP x64 Edition, even if it is only 200mhz faster (1.8ghz Barton 2500+ bumped to a 2.0ghz 64 3200+).

Though, I also gained a 400mhz FSB, dual channel RAM support, and a 1000mhz HTT....
