Well i done some fresh install of xp , and to check every thing i runned also everest , well i notice some strange thing , Its showed that my multipler is 6 , whit is imposible , cos the E2160 has x9 .

I runed cpuz and its constatly swith from 9 to 6 and back , same in real temp ,

Can this be a miss read out ???

Since Pentium M, Intel has included Speedstep in every CPU, so when your CPU idle it goes back to low multiplier (in your case 6), and under load, mutiplier goes max (which is 9 in your case)

That is still quite strange for someone who OC his CPU so much to not know that

If You notice , its NOT under full load , its just desktop

I disabled the Speedstep in bios , but it still drops to 6x .

This happens to me too, I have an E6600. As far as I can tell its not actually changing, there just seems to be a glitch with the readouts

Disable C1E in the BIOS, if you don't have it use RMClock to apply it.

Ok , i need to add here fee things , actualy it all came out good with this .


Firts of all , I found out , that i actualy CAN change the multipler in range from 6 to 9 , whit i found out to be suprice , i read like 4 OC guides on my CPU , and non of them mntioned You can change it .

I tryed changing it earlier ,when i got the new Rig , But in windows CP , it always read , the multipler x9 and show the CPU sped with it. So i got to thinking you CAN`T change it.

Also i found Out that that the speed step , even when in full load , some times drops to 6x with out reason .

Nows the thing , the side step seems to work only when multipler is 9 .

When i droped it to 6 to find max FSB of my CPU , its stoped working (wonder why )same with x7 x8 .

Every OC guide i read mentioned that the E2160 have FSB wall at +/-360. With x 9 its is something about 3.24ghz (dont remember exacly) And that was a spot i stayed with my OC. Rising voltages wont make it go higher.

But with the multipler set to 6 i found out that the CPU can handle 400 eazly , but lil more that that i became unstable .
So i laved it with the 400 and rasied the multipler to x8 , and this now look like this ,

3.2 ghz , FSB 400 , multipler x8 , Ram:CPU 1:1 , 4-4-4-12 , C1E disbled , Speedstep disabled , i needed to rise the bridge voltages one step , and gave the CPU some more juice. Every thing perfect stable.

PS. XP cp shows that my CPU is runing 3.6 ghz .
