Can athlon x2 limit ram's speed?

Do athlon x2 can limit ram speed? Is any top border of speed for ram what can be used with athlon x2?

Guy from gigabyte said to me that with athlon x2 i can't use ram faster than 800MHz, is that true?

That's supposed to be true but people with athlon x2s are getting stables overclocks at slightly higher than 800MHZ so maybe it's not a strict barrier but you'd want to keep as close to it as possible.

Athlon X2 6000+ who i have here limits my memory to 751 MHz at stock... if i overclock it to 3.15 ghz it goes at 800 (about) with the most crappy board you can do an overclock of 150 mhz
