QX 9650 or Q9450

yeah mohammed but you are forcing this kid/man to waste 1000USD
when you test cpu you test it on a same pc
you cant compare two different systems in 3dmark
you need to run it on one machine
and why do you think this kid/man is overclocker ?

For the past few years it's always been better, if you're playing games, to spend less on the CPU and more on the Video card. And with the exception of a very few new games, like the incredibly poorly optimized Crysis, you hardly need to overclock when you get a better video card.

Of course I realize that some of you Overclock because you "can". I remember back in the 90s, when I overclocked because I couldn't afford more than a 300MHz Celeron. Then when you took that and overclocked it to 450MHz, or faster... You got a huge boost in performance.

Intel in particular has been very shrewd in discouraging the practice of overclocking. That's a major factor in why they always keep bumping the FSB speeds. They can then drop the multiplier down and limit the overclocking potential of their least expensive processors. They know that the people who most likely to push the clocks are those on a limited budget. But the difference is that most of today's software is poorly optimized and your processors speed isn't such a big factor. You're better off with a top notch video card than the fastest processor.

I agree, hence why (as I said earlier) you would probably be better off spending less money on a Q9450 (which you could still overclock if you want even more performance) this would then leave you with more money to spend on a sweet GPU. Doing this would overall benefit you much more than it would to spend huge amount of extra money and take the QX9650 option.....seriously.

The only real difference having a Qx9650 would make is a higher score when benchmarking or maybe a couple of FPS difference - though you would probably still be inclined to overclock it to get the best results anyway - and also those couple of FPS difference wont really be noticeable if you're already getting 50-60 FPS with Q9450.

But you would definitely notice the difference after upgrading your GPU from a 256mb card to say a 512mb Gddr5 (4870) card or even a 9800GX2 - now that would be worth doing.
