second hand processors, which one?

I'm throwing a computer together for my kid who will probably want to do a little gaming.

I have a p4 2.0 ghz and a celeron 2.5 ghz, which should I throw in there?

I search google for benchmarks to compare and couldn't find any.

Celeron is slower than Pentium 4, so for gaming you should pick Pentium 4, but its not fast enough for newer games keep that in mind.

i think the p4 could be a better pick for a little gaming nothing extreme of course, just casual games.

Thank you for the quick responses.

I suspected that the p4 miight out perform the celeron but I wanted to be sure.

Does anyone know of a site with processor benchmark data?

but these are both 1.7ghz anyway i don't think that the 500 mhz will make up for the diference between p4 2ghz and cel. 2.5ghz ( maybe they will be equal at best bun don't really think so)

At that link (tom's hardware) they have "CPU Charts" that have about 25 benchmarks for every type of CPU that exists.

I went back into the 2004 charts and found that the P4 should blow away the celeron in frames per second especially.

Very useful sight to keep safely locked in Favorites.
