I'm using DDR500 so my next upgrade will be a bit more expensive. However, I can run all of my favorite games (Supreme Commander, STALKER, Titan Quest) just fine so I'm holding off until I have a hard release date for Crysis. THEN I'm going to piss off the wife. | From what I have seen memory isn't much of a bottle neck for memory and you get as much performance out of a lower cas memory then the next level up. I believe it was 60% utilization of memory for core 2 an a boost a +/- 3 fps in all but the most extreem over clocks. if 3 fps is a huge thing for $300. I'd say hold on to the mem till you real need new memory. plus a cas 3 can beat a cas 5 of the next better bandwidth as in I've seen 667 beat 800.
400 to 1000 memory http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/...-table_sml.jpg
If you are over clocking you can get capped by memory. |
