It will depend upon the individual game. Crysis, for example, will automatically detect your video card and revert to DX9 mode if necessary. Pretty much any game being released this year will be DX9/DX10 compatible if DX10 is supported. It will be quite a while, several years probably, before games will be DX10 only due to the fact that the vast majority of people only own DX9 cards. It's only we super-geeks who are concerned with having the latest and greatest in hardware.

Ok, this would be really cool cuz then i could buy a new CPU , a crossfire board and an ASUS EAX1950Pro Crossfire card and id be all set. If ill need a DX10 card in only several years, then ill consider having a DX9 Crossfire setup. Depends how much the initial cost of the 2xxx series will be.

You're probably better off grabbing a cheap Core 2 Duo or AMD K10 chip, when they're released, selling your current X1950, and grabbing a new X2900 or comparable 8800 card. Remember, the 8800GTX is more powerful than two 7900GTX's in SLI and is DX10 compatible to boot. You already have the DDR2 RAM so that will help cut your costs. I'm using DDR500 so my next upgrade will be a bit more expensive. However, I can run all of my favorite games (Supreme Commander, STALKER, Titan Quest) just fine so I'm holding off until I have a hard release date for Crysis. THEN I'm going to piss off the wife.

Actually, it's not much of a worry. She's a professional drug dealer with a DR in front of her name and she loves to play WoW, KOTOR, and Oblivion. How's that for hitting the jackpot?

I freakin' wish. But it took her a long time to get her doctorate and now I can't enjoy my favorite all-natural recreational vegetable matter any more. What a bummer.

Btw, is it me or is this site kind of slow? I have high-speed but the responsiveness of my posting and surfing takes far longer than usual.

No problemo chief. Check out the edit to my last post. Is this site a bit slow in responding or is it an issue on my end?
