Damn man, that's a s**t load of information. But i want to stick with Intel, nobody can do anything about that, so ill wait for the Intel 45nm to come out instead of buying a Core 2 now.

The Penryn's may not be out until 2008. That's a long time to stay wedded to your pokey P4. You must have the patience of Job.

I used to make the same mistake and wait and wait and wait. There's always something better around the corner. I plan on jumping on a new AMD quad-core because, if preliminary indications are anywhere near correct, they're going to smoke the Intel chips. The reign of the Core 2's may be limited to only about a year if AMD sticks to their Q3 release date for the K10's.

The only serious advantage that the 45nm Penryn chips will offer is a lower thermal output and higher clockspeeds. A few changes to their SSE instruction set will have a negligible impact. So if AMD's claims about the K10's are somewhat accurate, you'll have to overclock the living hell out of a Penryn to match a new Barcelona or Agena. We shall see.

Remember, being a fanboy of one company or another is unwise from both a performance and financial standpoint.

Oh believe I don't really care, because i have a patience of steel. But you know, my 3-year-old P4 is still running quite well for its age, and gives up quite a fight in the latest games, which, i know, is somewhat surprising

After the last technical Trade between Intel and AMD it doesn't matters anymore - Intel made the better Deal.

AMD got: Intel SSE3.
Intel got: AMD x86 compatible 64 Bit Technologie.

In the last 3 Years AMD have been the better Choise, but now Intel has the Core 2 Core...it's a bit more powerfull than AMD's this Time...this is cause a cheeper Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 has more Power than a expensive AMD FX60!!!

The upcomming AMD may close the Hole again, but this Time: for Gaming Intel is the better Option.

No I still don't get it. For folding and encoding sure Intel is the obvious choice but for gaming just save up for a better gpu (helped by the fact that amd boards and cpus are cheaper).
