The nobel peace price lost my respect when they awarded Al Gore who`s work had nothing to do with peace at all. Since year 2000, 3 elected officials from the US has gotten the peace price and none of them has really deserved it: one former president, one former vice president, and the current president.
Many former awarded peace price laureates have realy deserved the peace price, they worked hard over a long period and have results to show for, even the more controversial ones. But lately populistic persons have invaded the nobel comittee having their own agenda, especialy Torbjørn Jagland who is a stunningly populistic and has been well known in the past to make desictions purly to his own advantage, he was also the one that pushed trough Obama as the one to recive the price, 3 of the other comittee members spoke against it, but regretfully he got his way and the other nomines how realy deserved this price is now sitting in the shadows, many who put their lives at risk for their cause.

The Noble lost all credibility in my eyes when they awarded a terrorist, Yassar Arafat the prize. That pretty much did it for me.

I think that Obama receiving the prize is a great indication of the support he has internationally, and for the hope that he brings to the world. However, it's pretty obvious now that the conservative movement in the US is not going to support anything he wants to accomplish. That includes removing soldiers from major conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a move toward socialized medicine.

I hope he gets tough and just tells the electorate what they're going to get. It's going to take some dictatorial moves, but what else can you do with a population of ignorant people lead by racist radio and tv hosts, and who don't want to understand what he is trying to accomplish.

I'm confused... It was a funny ending, but what did it have to do with Obama winning the prize?

Besides the price being handed by a clown who belives that Janet Jackson made an album as a tribute for norway called "1814"? and keep in mind he was the prime minister at the time this video was shot!

This man is an idiot and is not fit to his position!

I don't claim to know anything about this guy, but I think places like Norway and Sweden have their sh#$t together when it comes to education, health care, and social justice. I don't see any problem with recognizing these countries as models for the rest of the world, and in turn appointing their leaders to the UN. Lead by example...

Yes i agree that people should get acknowledged when they do something the right way, and i think that Obama really has done some great things like, allowing stem cell research, halting plans for a misile defense system in europe and turning his back on the auto makers who have been living in a timeboubble.
BTW getting back to the Nobel peace price, Obama has done some "outrageus" things by american standards, like talkning with cuba, iran and reaching out to the middle east in a very personal matter. But we have yet to see the end results of these initiatives, and i think that the comittee should have been more result orientated when making the decition, the man has only been in office for 9 months and it`s a fact that this price will and already has caused problems at home for Obama wich defeates the purpose of the price, to help give momentum to the priceholders cause(es).

Anyways only time will tell how this price is going to turn out for Obama in the long run.
