Default Gigabyte K8N Pro and Audigy LS

A few weeks ago i planned to upgrade from my burned out XP2500+ and DFI Ultra Infinity. so i had in mind a DFI LanpartyUT NF3 250GB mobo and an Athlon64 3000+. i went to the Tigerdirect outlet store near my house. happens that they didnt have the DFI board i was looking for. so i instead i bought a refurbished Gigabyte K8N Pro..and i know compared to the DFI board this board stands no chance..but i didnt care at the moment i just wanted to be able to use my A64.i bought this board because it was only 20$ and i though "hey i just need to until they get new stock right" ok i got it. came home installed everything. happens that the onboard sound on the board is bad. well it doesnt output anything, windows detects the hardware and installed nvidia audio still no audio..ok no prob it cost me 20$. went back to tigerdirect and got me an Audigy LS. though "hey after i stop using the board i can still use the sound card"..came home installed card everything was going smooth browsin A64 you can notice the speed difference in programs i was quite happy. sound sounded good in MP3s. ok next step..lets install BF2 installed everything all drivers patch. blah blah..thats when my nightmare started. I CANT GET THIS DAMN CARD TO WORK WITH BF2!!! ive tried EVERYTHING i can possibly THINK! most times it crahes to desktop when sound gets intensive.now it even crashes with A BSOD on MP3s if i play em for too long. (15+ mins) i CAN play with software mod in BF2 but come on the sound quality sucks. and it still crashes sometimes when the sound gets too heavy ingame. (Artillery)..PLZ HELP IM SO DESPERATE. ive spent countless hours trying to fix this problem NGO PLZ HELP!

Go to www.americas.creative.com and choose the SUPPORT -> AUTO UPDATE. Make sure you are using IE as it does not work with FireFox or NetScape.

There are several driver updates and EAX updates for the audigy series cards to make sure they work flawlessly in new games. Don't trust just going to the site and downloading what you think you need. Let the site do all the work for you.

I have an Audigy (1) Series card as well, the Gamer and needed to do this for my card to work properly (otherwise, it didn't detect or use EAX 1/2 the time, and if hardware was forced it would crash).

EDIT: As for the onboard sound, disable it in the BIOS to free up system resources

I consider myself a heavy tweaker..i tweak everything possibe to get my pc how i want it...yea i dissabled onboard audio..i switched to an older BIOS of my mobo for some reason it seems to stabilize the card. BUT i still have problems in BF2 i cant get Hardware mode to work...the thing is that the sound does work BUT the Voice Overs seems to go in slow motion for example. if someone says "hey i need a ride" it says.."heeeeeyyy....i neeeeeed....a.......riiiiiiiide"..and it drops my frames like crazy. i means its confusing because all the other sounds work fine. ANY IDEAS PLZ? and yea i know that this card supposly doesnt support Hardware mode in BF2..they said that about me onboard nforce2 audio on my DFI Ultra Infinity too. it worked there..so WTH?? HELP!!!

try your onboard audio and see what happens.
that way you know it is your audigy or motherboard.

(audigy LS is not compatible with bf2 for hw accelaration but i only get shoppy delayed sound)

His onboard audio is dead, part of a refurb board, but it was cheap (and I prolly would have made the same decision!)..

So, if you go to the creative site using IE, does it pick up any new drivers or do you have the latest already?
