It's like "buzzzzzzzing" about 5 minutes before it's back to normal. Question is: Should I replace my hard disk with a new one? it seems to crash soon.. And the hard disk is about 1-2 years old :P

or the ball bearings are going in the hdd spindle
so yeah, get a new hdd and copy it all over before your hdd dies,
also, there are some places you can send the hdd which will replace the ball bearings.... |

#6 | | Guest | Oh.. your hard drive is failing for sure!! I have bad experience with maxtors (a couple of them died on friends computer)..
SO first thing you need to do is BACKUP!!
Then download Maxblast v4 for a floppy or cd, which you can get from http://downloads.maxtor.com/download.../maxblast4.exe
And read the diagnostics...
It will surely tell you that your hard drive is failing..

One thing thats for sure is that Maxtor HDDs are problematic. If you want reliability go with WD or Seagate
