Default Just got my Xbox 360!

After 19 years of consoles ignorance, today I finally grabbed myself a Xbox 360 Premium (65nm, 60GB). So far it is very nice, the keyboard is working.. but I gotta update its software. I'll post more feedback soon.

Don't you feel weird unable to expand your possibilities ?
By that I mean tweak, edit, mod and make things better ?
Don't you feel a little bit ... limited ? Consoles are only for games, and only some of them are good.
I wouldn't imagine me not to update a driver and/or combine two of them at least once a month to see the results, and/or helping other with their problems with PCs ?
Yeah - games 'just work' with consoles - no problems with them etc. but that's where the fun comes for me. Sometimes I get angry (like when Gears of War was hanging, but after it was solved I was more than fulfilled).
Anyway - congratz on your buy, hope you won't abandon the PC community at all !

My view on consoles vs. PC, is...

consoles are extremely good at their intended job.

the PC can be good and bad, depending on software/hardware and age....sometimes the PC can just do things so much better, particularly FPS games imo. but at other times the PC can be a pain in the butt for the average user.

consoles are very much plug and play, and also have a lot of games that never make it to the PC, on that front i would prefer the PS3 in terms of unique games.

Problem with consoles is after a few years, you have to move on to the next one and your previous one is pretty much useless, while i feel the PC evolves naturally for other purposes than just gaming, work, movies, internet etc. and through the updates for those purposes you get the gaming side pretty much for free.

So hell they are all good, variety is the spice of life, but I guess with the PC your cost per game is considerably lower and the ability to demo games is also better, even if that demo'ing is a little illegal. I feel you just have to buy games for the console even if you are not sure if it is your cup of tea or not.

Rege, what kind of tips are you looking for?

I've played on my son's 360s a few times. I'd play more but he keeps them pretty busy himself.

I can tell you that he's had to RMA everyone of them he's owned so far up to this last couple he's gotten. I do think the newer ones are now better built than the earlier ones. So, good luck to you!
