Default Disable Acoustic HDD Mode?

Anyone know of a way to disable this 'feature' on various HDDs? Seems Hitachi has something available, but, I don't have any Hitachi HDDs installed.

My HDDs are:

WD (SATA)
Samsung (SATA)
and
Seagate (IDE)

SiSoftSandra and various other benchmark/testing apps are suggesting I turn off the Acoustic Management for better performance. So far, I've come up empty using Google.

Yeah, I've been directed to that wiki article a few times in my search for an answer.

Since it says that 'most modern' HDDs have this feature disabled by default, it makes me wonder just how accurate the programs like SiSoft are when they state that the drives have it enabled. Since almost all of my drives are SATA, do these even have the feature installed?

Very interesting
i will keep a close eye on this thread
as i would gladly accept some performance loss on my music machine

if acoustic means what i think it means too tired too look it up atm

i fell through a roof, caught my self on the rafters
but tore muscles and i can hardly breath ,so its beer o`clock
another security job for a friend

this is why this is a cool forum!

I'm thinking that it's the Samsung HDDs in my system causing this. Samsung HAS incorporated something they call, NoiseGuard, on all of their HDDs. So, it could be that it's this feature that's being detected. Samsung's site has no utility for disabling it, either.
