I was told by the supplier of my brand new rig that they were upgrading me to an X-fi extreme music card, but that has a jack next to the three external speaker plugs right? the sound card I have has all the X-fi software on the system but no external jack next to the three speaker plugs - could this be an x-fi extreme gamer card instead?
Well, im confused as the three coloured wires from the creative T6100 speakers don't match the colour of the three plug holes on the card. And when I plug the speaker wires into the sound card I don't get any sound AT ALL. In fact the only way i can get sound from my speakers is if i plug the speakers into the onboard audio plugs on the M2N-sli deluxe m/board - this sound quality is barely reasonable and I really want the Hi quality sound from the card -
Can someone, ANYONE please help with this sound card issue as it is really pissing me off that i can't fully enjoy the delights of my new rig??

The card pictured in this guide has the external jack next to the three/four holes that my card is missing, this makes me think that something is not right.... This did help slightly in that it clarifies where i should be plugging the speaker wires even though they are not colour co-ordinated with the holes so thanks, but i am still confused as to why i can only get sound from my on board audio and not my sound card....I had a look in the device manager list for any options to disable the onboard audio but couldn't find any....can anyone tell me where i should be looking?

You may look ther , also every device that is listed in CP/SYSTEM/HW/DM -- RIGHT clinck on the onboard audio , then PROPERTIES/DEVICE USAGE and here you can enable or disable this device . Hope this help.

Can you post what mobo exacly , but since its asus , just hit DELETE key when the fisrt screen show up when you boot you PC. Then just browse the options in search for the onboard audio (AC97 ?? probable) , and turn it off , simple as that
If you need further help just ask , hope we can fix your probs.
