Hi everybody,

I didn't know where to put this, so i put in ATi Discussion.

My grandfather wants to buy his first computer system (I'll be the one building it for him).
His uses will be music, videos , no GAMING, and simple tasks like internet navigation and multimedia apps. Now he has got a stereo system with receiver, amplifier, taper deck, cd tray and two ellipson high quality speakers. He would like to hook up his receiver on the PC do that the sound could play through the ellipson speakers. Only thing is that I have no idea of how to do that. For informational purposes, the motherboard will have interated SPDIF and Optical.

The system is as follows:

Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH
CPU: Intel Celeron D 64bit 360 s775
Memory: 1 gigabyte of Kingston DDR2-800 HyperX
Mitsumi Floppy
HDD: Western Digital SATA2 320gb 16mb cache
ASUS 16x DVD-ROM
ASUS 16x Dual Layer DVD Burner
Logitech MX5000 wireless desktop
Video: ASUS EAX1600PRO 256mb Silent PCI-E
Case: Thermaltake Tenor black
PSU: Enermax Noisetaker 485w
Zalman CNPS8000 Compact CPU cooler

Any clues of how hooking up the receiver to the PC to be able to play the speakers?

Also, he will be using his TV as a display, plugging it into the S-Video on the GPU card.

Thanks in advance!

If both motherboard and receiver have SPDIF input, then use SPDIF. If not, then buy Stereo to two RCA cable, and use analog.
