Default Are these freq's safe on a 6600 gt?

Hey guys, im running a Leadtek A6600 GT TDH, i just downloaded the latest optimized drivers from here, the card runs at 500gpu and 900 ram stock, ive been running it at 552x1040 and its been running great, now after i installed these latest drivers it set the default frequency on the ram to 1.8ghz(if i click on find optimal settings it goes even higher) is this safe? or will the card like melt, i know the new cards run at this but can this one handle it? I know their made to run hot but i dunno about 1.8ghz, is the driver just assumeing i have a newer card? any input into this would be great, also if you know the best freq's to run this card at let me know!

well thanks for your time and help!

all the best
~Dave

so i gave in and tried the card out at the new "default" settings of the optimized drivers, so 500gpu and 1.8ghz on the ram, i played rainbow six vegas for like 30 minutes and then quit and by the time i made it to the temp in the settings it was at 55 for gpu and 39 ambient, and it idles at 40gpu and 27 ambient, now ive heard people saying that their card's idle in the low 50's with just light oc's so i think its running pretty cool if its only hitting say at most 60(which is actually only half of the heat threshold it gives in temp sets) at peak.

but it also is fairly cool in here, about 16C cuz we keep it cool at night so when it warms up to 20 during the day im sure the temps will go up a little but it shouldnt be too much.

The game itself ran flawlessly, it was beautiful, i was expecting to get artifacts or something but it just ran great and faster then ive ever had it go.

So what do you guys think, should i leave it at 500x1.8? i mean its only double the stock on the ram lol any input anyone?

It is displaying 1800 DDR full rate (ddr = 2x output in 1 cycle) or put it another way 900 if you want it in old money, as you were running it at 1040 your running it less than your previous OC before you used these drivers.

i wish i had another cooler to toss on here but ive never changed a vid card cooler and i cant afford a new card if i screw it up lol the stock cooler on here is actually pretty decent though, i ran it at about a 15%oc for months and the temp's didnt go up by more then a degree or two on avrage, it actually runs cooler then anyone else i know with a similar card, my friends bfg 6800 idles around 50.

Well if that number really is just stock, in which case i am very impressed with the performence improvment of these drivers just at stock settings(their running better then it did wit hthe old drivers oc') then im gonna have to oc it a little lol
