Default Upgrades

Starting with the case Genrage asked for a few pics and don't have the bright blue LED on the front fan on these but getting started

This case was suggested to me by my old friend Drake(steakn) as he is using one, and after talking to my old friend Judas he informed me they were his new choice for cases for systems he builds for his customers. So at 80 bucks Canadian I went out and bought one and was impressed. Listed as a mid tower there is lots of room and space for fans and cooling.

Canada Computers - Cases > Mid Towers : Cooler Master 690 RC-690-KKN1-GP Black ATX Mid Tower Case .

It came with the front fan / w LED and also 2 x 120mm case fans mounted rear and on the side panel. I moved the rear fan to the side panel ingoing airflow like the other(pic1). Mounted one of the two AC fans I have on the rear outgoing and the second on the top(pics 2 and 3).

First part is done moved my PSU into the case and building from there(pic4)

Oddly enough I can't see the full height of the case in any of those pics but from what I can see it's a good choice. Were you partying before you snapped the shots ?

So have you already got the rest of the components or waiting for delivery?

CPU I am picking up this week still deciding between the E2180 and E4500 to start difference of about 25 bucks. No quads until the prices come down and if I go quad its going to be 45nM. Both in stock here.

The Mobo I am picking up with my Christmas bonus hopefully I will have Friday still deciding between the P35 and X38 Gigabyte boards. The X38 has true 2 x 16 PCIE but doesn't perform or O/C as well as the P35 based boards. The P35 board is in stock here they have two.

The memory will have to be ordered and will pick that up hopefully mid Jan ....

Heres another pic of the case after I first took it out of the box ... excuse the mess was after dinner lol

Getting there had my moms puter here for a bit of an upgrade this week so been using it and that has given me some time to learn how this case works. The airflow is excellent and nice have all that extra space.

I changed the CPU cooler to the Scythe Katana2 as it supports 478 and also 775 when I upgrade. All the cooling I have picked up so far will be used in the new setup so no dollars wasted. Heres a pick of the cooler with the fan reversed so it draws off the mem cooler and chipset through the angled heatsink. Directly to a big AC 120mm fan. Changed some fan positions and directions around still some work to do but by the time the upgrade is complete I should have it optimized

(Thank god the Gigabyte board has the power connectors located elsewhere ASrock really wasn't thinking of a bottom mounted PSU installation )

OK bumping this the Gigabyte X38 mobo is 1/2 paid for and pick it up within the next week or two. On CPU have two choices I am considering and wanted some feedback. This I will be buying tomorrow morning short notice I know but please feedback

The first is the E2180 the E21xx series O/C's very well as Rege has shown with the E2140 95 bucks CAD.

http://www.canadacomputers.com/main....873&cid=CPU.84

The second is the E4500 its about 40 bucks more at 135 CAD but has 2M L2 cache and uses MO stepping as I read in a Madshrimps article tonight including both links.

http://www.canadacomputers.com/main....106&cid=CPU.84

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=get...14&articID=629

Any feedback welcome

Nice Mac Daddy, I think you are missing the dust filter in your fans, this looks a bit exaggerated but a friend of mine told me that they reduce the dust inside the case by 40% and I was thinking in use it too, though its just an opinion. I like the black color especially when it shines with light.

Good choice of components. I would go with the 4xxx though.

THX for the feedback Bro I have been watching prices and stock on these two closely. They have both dropped about 30 bucks in the last few months and are constantly in and out of stock. Which means they are popular as well.

Was going to ask them about that the top and front have the filter but the side panels don't. On the case I should take a couple of pics in the dark the blue leds in the front fan and the RAM cooler look really cool
