CPU: Q6600 @ 3.4 Ghz
GPU: 2 x 9800GX2
M/B: XFX 780i
RAM: 4096 Corsair 800 XMS2
PSU: Galaxy 850W
Default Overclocking GTX (+ Athlon X2)

Is this possible/worth doing? has any one tried it? If so which is the best program to use? I have tried Riva tuner in the past which works well, but i don't know if it will recognize Sli?

Also if i want to overclock my Athlon is it better to use CPU-Z or AMD Overdrive? I have never o/c a CPU before what are best/safest increments to increase clocks by? Thanks!

You might want to have a look in the Guru3D fourms. Here is a link to a few Riva Tuner Guides but I am not sure if SLI is supported or not.

Find Rivatuner guides here - Guru3D.com Forums

the best way is doing it via bios settings as for cpu-z you can use it to verify your oc, also amd overdrive does not have full functionality on all mobo's

AMD overdriver will only fully work on motherboards with amd chipset.
Increase the FSB speed, decrease the HT link speed and increase memory dividers. Dont touch your voltages just yet. Lock PCI express slot speed at its default.

ah -ok that sounds slightly easier - i'll check out settings in BIOS, as for the gpus, if anyone has info on overclocking cards in SLI - it would be much appreciated, meanwhile i'm going to go and see what info I can dig up on Guru.. thnx for the support , i'll keep you posted on progress..

...found out that riva tuner 2.0 doesn't support SLi - will keep looking...

If you dont mind to install some extra software i think you should try nTune. nTune has some overclocking special features, they should be available to you (you have a SLi board, that generaly means you have a nForce chipset) like automatic overclocking, stability test, and some monitors to your system. One of its disavantages, if I recall correctly, it doesnt save the changes you make.

you can also use ClockGen as a easy oc tool for the cpu.. the only bad thing about it is that doesen;t save your settings after restart but is easy to use. you cand download it from HERE

cool, well Chaos suggested using BIOS to o/c cpu, so i'll try that first. I'll look into ntune too, I was reading an article on Overclockers which said they managed to sucessfully o/c 6800 cards in SLi using coolbits - anyone used it before?
