Yeah I wanted to take it off but the heatsink loops were really tight and when i wanted to pull the thing off there was so much suction i thought i was gonna pull the chipset with it

Really this one just had cheesy little clips sounds like perhaps the thermal paste is applied a bit better on that one .. I popped one clip this one just fell off

Yeah i know it sounds weird, plus this model my dad has was supposed to be something from the cheap ASUS series. But it runs great no issues whatsoever which is what we care about

Default 939-Dual Vsta

I have a Asrock 939 Dual VSTA board that was running great until I put it in my new Coolermaster Cosmos case. This case is know for being quiet but with crappy air flow. Since then my northbridge has been overheating and I had to put a active copper HSF on it just to keep it cool. The stock heat sink is indentical to the one you show and it had the same little splash of thermal paste on the bottom. Even with the new HSF my idle temps are still in the high 30s and under load they go into the 50s.

Yeah, well considering the high grade components you put in your PC (FX60 and HD2900XT) your chipset must be working like crazy, probably has a shite load of bandwidth to handle.

Aslo on that Asrock board i think they use a ULi chipset which are reknown for getting quite hot.

heheheheh
anyway that mbo have smart name
it is fast As Rock but it can do a trick
just put a active cooling on chipset and it will run without any problems until you try to get max speed from your cpu (you can reach 20mhz over normal fsb but higher than that you get bsods or crushers)

Nice cooler when I upgrade my mobo and case might look into that

For now excuse the cable ties this is temp case setup, my AC stickers and hardware for those fans are in the boxes(pic 1). My idle is 33C CPU and mobo ambient 24C. On the chipset I think its fine for now (pic 2)
