As you all know I have been doing some upgrading here and actually I have just received my new memory. I had to modify some of the lower cooler fins on the Freezer 7 CPU cooler to do so ... thats picture one.
The reason for this thread is twofold. I wanted somewhere on the board to work and post on overclocking this system as some of you can offer me advise and maybe even pick up a thing or 2 from my experiences as I go.
And HEY a big thanks to Chaos, Genrage and Judas so far for there help along the way ... Steve I owe you about 6 cases of beer by now *g*
Second is something I noticed about the ASrock BIOS and default memory settings which are crucial to overclocking. This is a setting called "Flexibility Option". This shows in the online .pdf as disabled as default as well as the .pdf manual that comes with the CD (screenshot 2). Initially and after the BIOS update it is set to enabled by default and to stress the impact this has on your system take a look at screenshots 3 and 4 (enabled and disabled).
All that was changed is that setting !!
All for now still O/Cing and taking it slow:
At 145 x 21 = 3048 for my overclock the OCZ memory is running at 221 which is within the 230 max its rated for.
CPU core = 45C
X1950 662/744 GPU core = 42C
No artifacts or lockups at this point
3DMark3 = 14199
3DMark6 = 3370
Still got a way to go but getting there
