Default can't OC!?

I have an Athlon 64 X2 4400+ that i was happy to buy before it was taken off of newegg. i was wondering if anyone else that has one would tell me how to overclock it. as far as i can get it, i can only raise the FSB by 8 MHz, and even that would produce unstable results. Every time i try to go a full 10MHz, i get either a blue screen of death (if i used Ntune) or my system would not boot (if in BIOS). when i see people with OC'ing going at speeds far greater than i could ever get on my system, i get sad that my system that i biult did not work that well

would my motherboard have something to do with the inability to OC? my memory could also be a culprit, would i have to set the voltage higher, timing lower?

thanks in advanced to people for responding, they always do

Have you tryed increasing your memories divider? Did you decreased the HTT multiplier?

Ok well if you had good overclock performances you need to take in consideration if you had an good cooling solution ! Well... i had about the same cpu than you and ... i had the stock cooler and i can do good overclockings with it ! But more your Cpu are cold .. more your voltages can be lower ! Well when i overclock my cpu i need to put the maximum voltage because my cpu do about 55 at idle ! Fan at 100% ... Well when you do an overclock you need to up the voltages (Cpu and memory) because the memory controler are intregrated to the cpu ... so its overclock too your memory Well... Maybe your board are an poor overclocker but try to up your voltages when you do overclock and maybe it's will works ... well send feedback about that ! And another thing ... write your temperatures on this thread ! please that's can be an good indicator

P.s: NEVER SET THE VOLTAGES TO AUTO ... just crap the auto function !

You don't have the same CPU than him. He's got a 4400+, you have a 4200+.

Set your HTT multi to 4 or 3 it may be called something else like "k8-nb frequency multiplier" some motherboards realy don't like over 1000mhz ht speed(200*5) at 208mhz Ram you're at 1032 mhz htt. at 208*4 you would be at 832mhz htt (well within safe). On my OC i run my ddr500 at 250x4 for 1000mhz htt

If you want the best possible overclocking performance, dump Abit and get a DFI motherboard.
