Cached is not the same as used. Does it free that cache for programs then?

Cache means its preserved memory. It doesnt mean it will be used, only that if Vista needs it, it can use it. But sure, Windows with all its bells and whistles on will be memory hungry. You can always tweak it to use less, but dont expect 1gb will be enough for Vista. If you want to use its Aero and others its gonna cost.

Software developers cant always take considerations of those who dont want to upgrade and dont want the latest in tech. This is one reason why PC is dying as a game plattform in the U.S. Its because even if many of us have high(ish)end pc´s with expensive Gfx cards and cpu´s, most people dont.

And because game developers want to make money, they have to make the games less than "Next Gen" so most can play the games=buy the games. This is bad, hopefully Vista can change this with DX10 and more innovation. Plus that MS has begun the Games For Windows thing. Hopefully soon games can really take advantage of PC´s true power.

I am one who is looking really forward to Vista, i hope it will revive PC as a true Multi Media Plattform. And hopefully people who dont care about games and power pc´s dont buy Vista, so dev´s can really concentrate on us who do care.
