Cool VISTA - no hardware accelerated sound ?????

Ok i read that in Vista hardware sound mixing will not be used.
Well not direcly , only thru DX , and thru software emulation.

I heard that drivers wont be placed in system at the same level as cpu (i know that i probable used wrong word to describe this ,sorry) so when drivers fails no BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.
Is this right ??? if yes , how its gonna work.

That's what it looks like for sound, but you will be able to use things like OpenAL instead of DirectSound. OpenAL will give you hardware mixing options: EAX, A3D, etc.

The Drivers will be run via another layer of the OS so if the drivers crash, it'll simply crashto desktop and allow you to reboot the drivers!

this also allows for the new feature of Vista where you can install and remove drivers without a reboot
