the hardware producers are going to get rich when Microsoft releases Vista,
coincidental? I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but i have thought about it.
Vista isn't really breaking any new ground, despite what Gates say it`s only a remake
of previous windows versions and have much of the same shortcomings, it demands
a lot of resources when doing absolutely nothing, it probably has a long boot time on
"non cutting ege" computers, Vista has an ounce of unnecessary services running in the
background using memory better used for 3rd party programs like Office apps, Games etc.
so even if you're just an "Office rat" you still need some serious computer power to run Vista properly.
We`ll have to wait and see if the final product has anything to show for other than fancy looks...

#3 | | Edelweiss Corporal | I dont read muth of Vista , but heard fee things.
Of course you right Zandro , If my games gonna work slower and crapier on Vista that on XP , then fuck it , i reale want to see some benefits from new system , MORE STABLE , FASTER , LESS CPU&MEMORY usage.
And i dont wanna "BETTER" system with 1000 fountains in it , 3d desktop ( WHY THE FUCK WE NEED 3D desktops for ) and alot , cpary shit that i never gona use in my life .
But the sadest thig is if we want it or dont want at some point we all gona have to swith to it , hope its not too early .

I don't give a s*&) if my desktop is in 3d I only need my games in 3d.
If we are going to have to switch...i'm not sure I might still be using XP in a few years who knows.
I mean look at what happened to windows64.
No home users actualy ever used it.
(Or maybe you did... I did for a while until I realised that it wasn't worth it and that games that were supposed to run faster were running slower...) |

#5 | | Edelweiss Corporal | WELL its like this NEW operating system shuld be "BETTER" , we all can say YES to this.
But "BETTER" in our heads , its some totaly other that "BETTER" in the heads of Microsoft staff , and that guy ... what was his name .... aaaa BILL.
So we now gonna get "better" system , and next we gonna have to get "better" hardware for it , and then our games gonna run just like they run now on XP , WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO
This is what make the world go around.
PS. I never used windows64.
PS2. Even the 64 version of Half Life work slower that normal 32 xp version , so what you make of that. I know its just getting started , shuld we move foward not back.

The 64bit version of the game DOES run slower, but that is because of the visual enhancements that have been added to the game over the 32bit version! All of these enhancements obviously tax the system much more . This applies true to all 64bit ready games, like: FarCry, HL2, Chronicles of Riddick, UnrealTournament 2006, etc.
In all honesty, a 32bit game runs the same speed regardless of whether it is in a 32bit or 64bit o/s! If you want to look at the review at AnandTech (a very highly regarded site): http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2411&p=3.

Well i readed article (dont remember when , but it was linked here on NGO) about HL2 , and ther was no Image quality increase , and lil performance loss , it was not muth. And i was refering to this.
No flame war here mate , just exchange of opinion and knowegle.
