#1 | | Professional Member | IP-Forwarding | Routing Hi folks!
i am trying to forward a virtual ip to a specific ip in the internet.
eg my network is:
10.0.0.x whereat 10.0.0.1 is my router and 10.0.0.2 is my pc (10.0.0.3=laptop etc...)
now i want to add eg a route for 10.0.0.100 to 72.14.221.104 (google)
so when i do a ping for 10.0.0.100 i get results from 72.14.221.104.
so a broadcast in my network would result in a message sent to goolge (for example)
further i need one more rule which tells that all incoming connections from 72.14.221.104 are from 10.0.0.100
any ideas how to do this?
i tried adding a route, but this does not work
route add 10.0.0.100 mask 255.255.255.255 72.14.221.104 -p
NOTE: i do NOT want to use a virtual network adapter like hamachi etc...! i want it to look like REAL LAN
any ideas how to achieve this?
thanks in advance |

#2 | | cel rau | any routing you need is done in the router software
I still don't understand why you need that route mentioned

#3 | | Professional Member | the router software does NOT support ip forwarding, only port forwarding or domain routing! nor virtual clients are supported.
what i need this for?
software broadcasts services in my lan (lan only! and its not possible to change the adapter it uses - it automatically selects the adapter which is not connected to the internet)
as broadcasts get sent to 255.255.255.0 in my 10.0.0.x network no broadcast is sent to internet (would not make any sense...)
so if i specify a ip forward i could notify also a computer outside of my network, as the broadcast would be sent to the remote machine.
any responses from the remote machine would be remapped to the virtual pc in the local network.
is it clearer now?

#4 | | cel rau | I think I get it now but if you can't do it from the router's software it's useless since the router manages all incoming and outgoing connections
maybe doing a port forward to the specific IP inside your lan may help
